The Purple Jewel in Catacomb Abyss.

Rare and precious, Jewels (sometimes called Gems) are useful items in the Catacomb Adventure Series that upgrade the Crystal Sphere. Each one covers the denizens of different areas, and will give you their position on the Sphere if they get in range. Without the Jewel, those associated enemies will not show up on the Crystal Sphere at all, so finding them can be extremely helpful.

In almost every game in the series, there are multiple gems of every color hidden away, so if a player misses one in an earlier level, there is a chance to get it again later.

In Catacomb AbyssEdit

In Catacomb Abyss, the Jewels are pretty evenly scattered through the early levels, resulting in the player being able to collect the entire set by Level 8. Without the Jewels, the Crystal Sphere will still detect Bats and Nemesis.

Yellow JewelEdit

Detects: Skeleton Warriors

Red JewelEdit

Detects: Mages, Evil Eyes, Red Demons.

Blue JewelEdit

Detects: Water Trolls, Blue Demons.

Green JewelEdit

Detects: Green Trolls, Orcs.

In Catacomb ArmageddonEdit

In Catacomb Armageddon, the Jewels are found very early on, so the player has all of them by Level 6. Without the Jewels, the Crystal Sphere will still detect Bats and Nemesis.

If the player misses any, every single Jewel appears in The Chamber of the Evil Eye.

Purple JewelEdit

Detects: Zombies.

Yellow JewelEdit

Detects: Treants, Skeleton Warriors, Killer Rabbits.

Red JewelEdit

Detects: Giant Ants, Mages, Evil Eyes, Two-Headed Demons.

Green JewelEdit

Detects: Vipers, Wretched Poxes.

Blue JewelEdit

Detects: Succubi, Sea Serpents.

In Catacomb ApocalypseEdit

Unusually, in Catacomb Apocalypse, the Green and Yellow Jewels are hidden in the first two levels, and then all of them can be found in the 4th level. Without the Jewels, the Crystal Sphere will still detect Devil Rays and Nemesis.
