"The first enemy you ever encountered in 3d, the low man of Catacomb 3d. It seems these little guys got a bit stronger for abyss though, but not by much. These guys usually take 2 shots (regular) to kill, and they actually inflict a decent amount of damage with that spear they have. These guys are pretty smart actually and will follow you all over."
--Description, Catacomb Crypt

The earliest enemy the player encounters in Catacomb 3D, Orcs are the among the weakest of Nemesis' minions. Their weak status is intended to help the player get acclimated to combat in the game. They resemble gray-skinned humanoids with green armor and spears. They re-appear in Catacomb Abyss.

In Catacomb 3D[edit]

An Orc draws near.

The Orc will, upon seeing the player, approach in a serpentine pattern (moving left and right at an angle) until they get close, at which point they will try to jab the player with their spears. Like many enemies in Catacomb 3D, they need to actually get in close to do damage, so if the player can keep them away, they're easy to fight. Even if they get in close, their damage is very low, and the player can survive a barrage of hits from one. They do like to group up though, so be careful not to get surrounded.

The Orc is the least dangerous enemy in the game; it does the least damage and with a mere 3 Hit Points, it's easy to bring down with a trio of standard shots or a single charged fireball. When killed, it collapses hard on its back with a bloody hole in its chest.

They first appear in The Approach, and will appear in almost every level that follows, up until Chaos Corridors, often alongside Trolls.

In Catacomb Abyss[edit]

Orcs reappear The Orc Mines. They're a little tougher (5 Hit Points) and do about the same damage. While this, plus their new appearance (they now boast horns and a shiny new spear) may imply they're actually threatening, they're still easy to defeat and more-or-less the same threat they were in Catacomb 3D, if a little tougher. They make up for it mostly with numbers.

Orcs require the Green Jewel to appear on the Crystal Sphere.
